Understanding Real ID

What is Real ID? Real ID is a federal requirement that establishes minimum security standards for state-issued driver's licenses and identification cards. Starting May 7, 2025, you'll need a Real ID to board domestic flights and access federal facilities.
Why do I need it? Without a Real ID (or another acceptable form of identification, such as a passport), you won't be able to pass through airport security or enter federal buildings.

Gathering Required Documents

Proof of Identity:
- Certified birth certificate
- Valid U.S. Passport
- Permanent Resident Card
Proof of Social Security Number:
- Social Security card
- W-2 form
- Pay stub with your name and SSN

Applying for Real ID in Ohio (it is the same in most states)
